Teaching for Peace
Educators for Change Course
Educators for Change: Teaching for Peace is a 5-day educational course for individuals passionate about education, currently working as teachers or youth workers, or anyone curious about the current educational landscape. During these 5 days, we will have workshops and courses covering collective learning, gaining a global perspective, peace education in practice, experience-based learning, and more.
What will you gain?
Tools and strategies to integrate peace education into your current practices.
Inspiration and confidence to shift your classroom from a place of potential tension to one of healthy dialogue and collaboration.
Practical approaches to develop youth leadership, critical thinking and empathy.
A supportive, lasting network of educators connected in our peace movement.
Time and space to plan, reflect and build actionable projects you can implement at home.
Why should you join?
As educators, we shape the next generation — the thinkers, creators, and leaders who will define the future of our communities. But in a world where war feels normal, difference is seen as division, and peace is too often dismissed as naïve, many of us feel unprepared to help our students make sense of it all.
This programme is an invitation to change that.
It’s for teachers, youth workers, and future educators who believe that peace isn’t passive — it’s powerful. You’ll learn how to nurture curiosity, empathy, and courage in your classrooms and communities, turning everyday learning into a force for understanding and change.
By joining, you’ll become part of a global network of educators reimagining what education can do. Together, we’ll explore how to lead constructive conversations, practise restorative justice, and give young people the tools to navigate conflict with compassion and confidence.
Teaching peace isn’t a luxury. It’s how we build the world our students deserve.
Course Themes
Another Kind of Teacher
Discover the key ideas behind being “another kind of teacher.” We will share pedagogical methods based on collective learning, gaining a global perspective, and experience-based projects that can have a profound effect on students today.
Collaborative Learning & Restorative Justice
Explore project-based learning as a method to encourage full participation and collaboration. We will delve into restorative justice—a concept focused on repairing harm and restoring relationships rather than punishment—and learn to facilitate constructive debates that prioritize listening and understanding over winning.
Peace Education in Practice
Peace education can be implemented in many ways. This theme explores how to integrate peace into our different curricula, from covering multiple perspectives in history to launching creative community projects. Learn how to build peace education into the work you already do.
Critical Thinking & Transformative Action
Unpack the messaging, propaganda, and bias that affect our youth and society. Learn how to guide students in analysing media and to become their own media source, spreading messages of peace, empathy, and understanding. We will end by daring to imagine a world worth fighting for and planning the steps to create it.
Action Planning
Throughout the week, we gain many tools and ideas. We dedicate this last theme to planning! In small groups, you will determine one or two concrete activities or small-projects to activate your youth. You’ll give and receive feedback, and plan follow-up meetings to ensure you have the support to implement your plans successfully.
