As part of the period “Angola- our country” the 2007 team spent 8 days doing investigations in 5 municipalities. Gaining firsthand experience of how most people in the provinces live had a huge impact on the students, strengthening the resolve of many to return in their long teaching period to help build up a schooling system. It became very clear for the students the difference they will be able to make as trained teachers in rural areas where there is an almost total lack of educated staff.
The 2008 team is bigger than the previous year, but there are fewer women . Interest from women has been high, but there are still relatively few females in the province who have the qualifications to enter the programme. This will improve with time and meanwhile the school re-intensified its efforts to enrol women, and is also preparing to open a small kindergarten for the children of students and staff.
