The school was officially re-inaugurated, after the completion of a the construction work on the National day of the Teacher, the 22. November 2008. The Minister of Education Dr. António Burity da Silva Neto initiated at the ceremony which was also attended by the Provincial Governor of Benguela and a number of national and regional dignitaries. The new team which started at the school in 2008 was somewhat larger than planned. This was due in part to the school’s reputation for training exceptional teachers and in part because the school is well known because of the many activities it creates in the surrounding communities. The school has a very wide reach in terms of teaching activities. During the “School Practice and Further Studies” period, for example, around 3600 children and young people were taught by the teacher trainees. The trainees on their long teaching practice were responsible for teaching 3.465 students. EPF Benguela operates two Pedagogical Workshops, where local teachers attend seminars and debates, and a range of community activities take place. The school also cultivates 7 hectares of land, producing a variety of foodstuff and a model garden for the community.
