Uldis P. from Latvia

Written by Susanne.

Hello,
My name is Uldis Porikis and I come from Latvia and I am 25 years old.
Last five years of my life holds a lot of action which in a way I have compared to be similar with life in DNS community. I have worked different kind of jobs, lived in different kind of places, studied philosophy for 3 years in University of Latvia, continued to participate actively in sport and experienced many more full life worthy actions, but that all happened in Latvia. Now because of my flexibility and interests in linguistics I have decided to participate in DNS education program. I want to learn more about practical things of communities of which I have only heard some things, and by this I want to improve my language and psychology skills to develop communication between people. Also I don't know why people often take philosophy as psychology. I want to fix that at first by learning about that.

Endija from Latvia

Hi, my name is Endija and I am from Latvia. I wanted to be a part of DNS long time ago but at that time I started another adventure in my life witch was the Development Instructor program. At that time I promised to myself that when I come back from Africa I will join DNS. So now I am back from my amazing experience in Mozambique and I am starting a new one called DNS.

Raminta from Lithuania

Written by Susanne.

Hi, I am Raminta, challenges seeker, traveler and creative teammate from Lithuania. I just finished High School, but to live in a box of rules of our society - not for me, so I’m here in DNS 2012 Team.
I feel that’s time to think differently and open our eyes wide for all that happening around, it’s time make our wishes and dreams into a plans and make them real.
Don’t forget -“Life is a challenge, meet it!”

I wish luck to all of us to keep strong till the end.

Ovi from Romania

Written by Susanne.

I joined the program because it suits me perfectly! I feel that it can provide me exactly what I need, learning by doing, not just books and people who tell you what is right and what is wrong(left) ? ! Also I love the idea that people from different cultures, countries team up and become a family that will travel, live together for at least 3 years.

I like to think of myself that I`m a honest and straight forward person. I love to learn new stuff and help/teach others from what I know. I`m good in finding a way in almost any situation. Also I can say that I have a nomadic tendancy, I don`t like staying in one place to much.
I love people! I need to have friends and/or enemies, you can`t have one without the other.
By finishing the DNS program I know that I will gain enough knowlegde and experiences so I`ll be able to fiind a job that will help me travel, meet new folks and learn/teach all across the globe.
Live long and prosper!

Elo from Estonia

Hei, I am Elo, 20, from Estonia
There is not much to say about me, but..if something then i would like to share this little part of a song.

The time is running by

Make sure you´ll look around

Collect every sight and sound
Before it is too late
And you can never start all over again
Be sure you will notice everything
That you have been given

Kristijonas from Lithuania

Written by Susanne.

My name is Kristijonas. I am 20 years old and I come from Lithuania. We all start our introduction in quite the same manner: name, age, nationality, skin colour or whatever.. That says a lot about what, but not really about who I am.  And I think that is unacceptable.

I am young. Young as the moon itself, and there is still a long way for me to reach fullness. Ever wondered, why you can’t smell perfume short after you put it on yourself? Well, I did. That’s why I am here at DNS – I went where the wind blew, I went where I could smell the world better than my own backyard. And I became full – full of constant motion, full of life beat, full of friendship – as full as a young moon can be.
Usually I am a quite calm and thoughtful person. But generally, I am all that man can be – with all the joy, sadness, mistakes, passions, anger, beliefs,  love, decisions, loneliness and infinite more.  So don’t be surprised if you see me as someone else the other day – very often, I am confused about myself as well.
“I always wonder why birds stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth. Then I ask myself the same question.” // Harun Yahya
I think reasons above clearly tells why am I here. I am not here to help poor, stop AIDS, feed starving children, water dried mouths or some other noble, heart-warming reason. I don’t feel I can help anyone at all. And that is exactly the reason why.

Eduardo from Portugal

Written by Susanne.

Hi, my name is Eduardo. As a short description of myself and why I am in this team i can start by: after completing my studies in Psychology I was looking for new adventures and a way to go out and see the world, and try to, in some way, correct what I think can be done to improve the life in a community. Not only in an economical way, but more through social change. And this is not done in a alone vs. the world manner.
That was what I found in this program, and in the people in it, that motivation, even if sometimes difficult to reach and it requires study and hard work. Also I have developed work as an artist, actor and theatre director, and wanted to use both knowledge of the world and creative impulse to develop myself and my work and present it to other people.
I hope you enjoy and share you interest in our project.
Best wishes, Eduardo Girbal

Karl from Estonia

Written by Susanne.

I´m one small, active and energetic dude, who came here from Estonia. I came with a toothbrush, tent, backbag and a desire to make something out from my life. I´m 19 years old sporty guy. I´m really fond of volleyball and football. Music is something, without what I couldn´t live. I need it, I want it and I enjoy it.. Mostly rap, rock, pop and other easy-deep music is rocking me around whenever possible. Music has given me a lead to writing songs.. But also writing poems gave me a push to start writing songs... Mainly rap, but not only. Also a novel has got a start, but so far it is sitting and waiting for free time which I don´t have...yet.
I joined school because I don´t want to be one and half squaremeter in the world, who lives and then is forgotten and lost. I came, because I want to make people happy. I want to see them smile, laugh and enjoy their presence on the wonderful Earth. But I want also Earth to smile and give us the amazing sights, beautiful nature and gorgeous wildlife. Since Earth and humans are not the best friends, I decided to do something about it! I decided to come in that school in order to get the knowledge about the world.
I hope that after school, after program, I have enough contacts, wisdom and clear head to make my wishes true. I wish to create a nice world without killing one. I have said to myself that I won´t rest before I have achieved all my goals.

Egle from Lithuania

Written by Susanne.

My name is Egle it translated from my langue “Egle” means “fir tree”.
It is not enough for me go downstream. I wish to create my own path in life. Looking for the meaning of human essence which is typical for me is found in travels, creating and helping others only then I feel happy.

I believe in DNS key idea you have to get closer to the things you want to learn. I have been studying for six years at university. I have acquired lots of theoretical knowledge, but I need more practice. I suppose, DNS programme is suitable for me, because I am planning to become a teacher. Sharing yourself with others make your soul richer.

As I discovered, being in DNS is not an easy task it is needed to find strength to develop yourself in different, unusual situations. DNS team consists of different nationality people from diverse cultural background. It is important to be able to learn person close to you, share experience and knowledge.
The person who pursues his aim can do a lot and a group of people who have same the same target can create miracles. I believe we have to use the talents given by God and help the others to find them. Learning is like the light which helps to develop a man’s inner beauty.
It is a challenging experience to be part of a team and you need to take the responsibility not only of your action, it is like “one for all and all for one”. But it is required to be very patient and respectful to each other.

Inga from Latvia

Written by Susanne.

Hello!
My name is Inga, and I’m from Latvia!
When I was a child I wanted to be a teacher because I like to help people, show them the different ways to solve their problems.

Why did I choose the DNS program? It’s simple- after I graduated University of Latvia, I was searching for a volunteer job, because I believe that is the best way to understand yourself and what you should do in the future, how you can manage people, how to help them.
I enrolled this program because I believe that what a teacher writes on the blackboard of life can never be erased.
This program is good for me because I love to travel and get to know other people and different cultures.
The best part of this program is that you learn by doing, so if you think like that too- you must come and see, how it is here!

Janina from Lithuania

Written by Susanne.

Greetings, I am lithuanian, and I'm already in DNS team 2012. I clearly know what i want from life and DNS is part of life. Since childhood I always wanted to help others and now I am here and I can make it real.

Even if I am only 19 years old, I know the main problems of society, and now I am looking for solutions, for knowledge and when people are working hand in hand, it is possible to change the world. And I am sure that DNS is the best place for the ones looking for education and experience at the same time. This program is based on "Learning By Doing". And I am starting to collect my experiences with my teammate in Germany. As our headmaster said, the world is our classroom and the people are our teachers.

Marcel from Romania

Written by Susanne.

Hello, I'm Marcel from Romania. I've got an email, from a site where I was looking for volunteer programs, informing me about DNS, I got in touch with the teachers from this school and after some presentations, I decided that it is something for me. I already have pedagogical studies but I'm here for the great experience that this program promise, visiting many places with different cultural environment, meeting people, finding out about their life. Sharing information is the way humanity envolved so much until now, getting experience mostly by doing things I've never done before, sharing it with my team mates and learning how to share it with other people from other places, is my way to make this world a better place, as this was my idea when I was searching for volunteering. I'm looking forward to meet my colleagues and form a team with people driven by the same idea, even each of us has different social experiences, different ages or different education.

Kerli from Estonia

Written by Susanne.

Hello. I am Kerli, I am 21 years old and come from Estonia.

Before I found DNS, I had been studying hotel service and had finished it at the end of June. After that, I had a seasonal work in one of the Estonian castles. When I had finished with the job, I was looking for new challenges. Since the long time, I was thinking about some volunteer work or about helping people in different ways. One day, I was surfing in the Interet to find a job abroad and somehow I found information about DNS. It looked quite interesting for me: it is something which includes everything what I wanted to learn as I am interested in social work.

There are people who don't understand why I want to be part of this program, neither they don't know everything about it, but I feel that this is something that I need to do and it is good for me. It gives me so many oppurtunities to get to know the world better, different people, how they are living, working, their backgrounds and cultures as well.
The experiences are very important to understand things. Also, I'm gonna get to know myself better and I can learn so many things, practically and theoretically, and I can use the knowledge, I have gotten so far.

Tvind is a good place to learn new things, which are useful for the rest of my life. In this short period, I have already met with so many new dfferent poeple, who are very interesting and who have a lot of stories about their experiences and about this program. Here are also nice, kind and helpful teachers, who are giving so much good energy. This journey could be tough but it is worth it.

Anna from Hungary

Written by Susanne.

Hello!
My name is Anna. I’m 18 and I come from Hungary. I’ve just finished my studies in a high school and I’m looking forward to meet you.

I know, that we will meet soon, but – just to get to know me a little – I will tell you how I got the idea to join the „DreamTeam”. I’ve been living in Budapest since I was born. As a little child I thought about what I will do as an adult. I wanted to do many things from being an astronomer to being a zoologist and living with animals in the forest. I didn’t know what I really wanted to do. The only thing that I was sure about was that I wanted to travel a lot. And then, I got older and a bit more serious. So, I started to look at the world in another way, and I could see, that something is wrong with the world. So, I want to change it. I didn’t know how I could do that or what I should do. The only thing that I was sure about, was that I really wanted it.
One year ago, I met some DNSers and they told me about the programme. Since the begining, I knew that it is what I have been waiting for, that’s what I want to do. To help people, to change the world. For me DNS is the place where I can do all the things, that I’ve ever wanted. There, I can learn how to help people, how to be sympathetic to others and there I can travel around the world, meet different people and cultures.
So, here I am now and I can’t wait for the moment to meet my team members and start my amazing three years at DNS.

Nina from Slovenia

Written by Susanne.

What is a teacher?

I will tell you: "[it] isn't someone who teaches something, but someone who inspires the student to give of her/his best in order to discover what she/he already knows!!" - Paulo Coelho

Hey. I'm Nina, 29 years old girl from Slovenia. I'm one of the luckiest girl in the world because I found my purpose in the world so early! I have always dreamed to try and change the world but I have never known how and where to start. DNS gave me an answer and showed me the way where to begin!

Friends at my age have already finished colleges. They are settling down with their families but I'm going back to college. I am getting many questions: "What's wrong with you!?" The answer is simple - I want more from my life and I will have all what they have and even more, just that I will postpone it.

Natascha from Denmark

Written by Susanne.

"Find out who you are, and do it on purpose." – Dolly Parton.

My name is Natascha, I’m 18 years old and I come from Denmark. I have always been very privileged to live in Denmark. I have always been able to go to school for free, and when I turned 18, I got money from the state just to go to school. Since I was a little girl, I have seen Denmark as a rich country, where there was enough room for everyone: rich or poor. And then when I grew up, I see that, it was true but I realized that not everyone in the world is as lucky as me to live in a rich country, where you can always get some help from the state. When, I have realized that, I have also found my dream. My dream is to make a difference in those countries that aren't that lucky. I think, no, I know, that my purpose in life is to help others. And by helping the others I’m also helping myself. I am still young and I still don’t know who I am. By getting this education, I hope to find myself, and found out more about other countries and other cultures. The reason why I chose DNS, was because my dad was once a student in Tvind, and he thought that this would be a good idea for me to visit the school. When I saw the school for the first time, it was almost empty, but still there was a lot of life and a lot of love at that place. The feeling I got when I saw the school was incredible. After just a few hours, I was sure: This is what I want to do. And I can’t wait to start at the school, and meet all of the students and teachers.
