Why do we take the education together ?
The single student means a lot to the community at DNS, and the community means a lot to the single student. Working in groups and individual work should always be combined so that one is always possible, while the other is taking place. This will mean that they are both part of guaranteeing the content of safety of the other.
Furthermore, it means that one learning situation is never allowed to crush a student or leave him or her powerless and unable to solve a task, but instead it is always possible to change into the other situation, so that if one cannot do it alone, it is possible to try doing it together and reversely: If it is not possible to do it together, you can try doing it alone.
A collective cannot exist healthily and creatively if it is not, at all times, related to necessities of outward directed character. In our case, the collective becomes healthy and creative, because it is constantly confirmed by our common necessity - The solution of the tasks that we formulate ourselves, tasks that are most certainly characterized by being outward directed.
The collective thus is for DNS a method to solve all the tasks which belong to the education.
We do not use the collective because we might as well do so, but because we cannot do without it. We all know that situations of being together collectively give rise to many fruitful moments of learning. We are able to confirm that it is hardly possible to find a source of learning and social behaviour that exceeds these ones: Ten people in a bus crossing a continent, a group of students together raising money for their education, ten people functioning as a teacher group in a town, a group of teachers-to-be, experimenting to find the best learning and teaching methods.
