Why do we have frames at our college ?

You can talk about a frame of a picture or a frame of a car or a body. You can also talk about “the right frame of mind”, the frame of society, the frame of a building, of a door, of a film ..
Frames usually allude to bearing constructions, structure, system, security, foundation – framework – and also have a hint of demarcation about it: the frames are exactly framing this painting, these glasses, that body, that government, this house, this essay – and they are necessary and vital for the existence of the object of the structure.

During the years we have developed the frames at DNS. They are few, but they are vital.
They are not rules. In our understanding a rule is something smaller and more everyday, usually of more moral character, and there is no reason why people themselves – in the case, the DNS students should not decide upon their own rules for their life together.

The frames at DNS are something more fundamental. They are framing the life within the education, so that you can concentrate on the real thing – and at the same time learn a lot by organizing your everyday life together by means of mutual rules and mutual agreements.

The frames in DNS are the following:

The program

Everyone must actively take part in the program.

No hash and drugs

No DNSer can consume hash or other drugs. This is valid during the stay at the school, during the travel, during home journey weekends, during investigations etc. In short, at all times during the 3 years the education last

Free of hard drugs for a year

All who are used to hard drugs must have been out of hard narcotics minimum 18 months before starting DNS.

No alcohol within the program

No DNSer can drink alcohol within the program. Since the program is all-encompassing this means that alcohol can only be consumed when the students are outside the program meaning on home leave.
